Heritage Areas are select areas with special heritage qualities. In accordance with the Heritage Council of WA guidelines, Heritage Areas do not usually have Management Categories assigned to them, rather the place record (copy attached) sets out a comprehensive statement of significance.
In designating a Heritage Area, Council is also required to adopt a local planning policy that sets out the objectives and guidelines for conserving the heritage significance of the area. Therefore a draft local planning policy has been prepared for the Naval Base Holiday Park Heritage Area, and is also being advertised for public comment (copy attached).
